Being a teacher, one is perplexed what method or strategy is to be used to develop vocabulary or what is more useful vocabulary learning strategy direct or indirect.However, I think that direct learning strategy is more useful for beginning, intermediate and upper intermediate students since neither they have exposure to the content with advanced vocabulary nor they possess sufficient vocabulary to comprehend the text.Is it correct?
I think it is important to expose students to a consistent method, whatever it is. I also think it is critical that we design instruction that allows students to practice the same vocabulary terms in many different contexts. Think about how you learn new words. First you need to notice the word and then you need to be given opportunities to think about the word and practice the word....
